Applications for ERC Starting Grants Hosted at ESO

ESO welcomes applications from qualified researchers wishing to conduct their frontier research at ESO with the support of one of the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) grants in the Starting Grant category. EU ERC eligibility criteria apply and specific restrictions are applicable to the submission of ERC proposals. More details can be found here.

There are two steps to the application process: application to ESO, and on approval, application to the EU. The ESO application serves as a preliminary step to grant the host approval that is required by the EU. The ESO application must specify the scope of the research proposal, as well as the FTE, hardware and software needs, in accordance with ERC rules. Complete applications must be submitted to Eric Emsellem, Head of the Office for Science. The deadline for ESO application is 17 October 2015 and the deadline for the ERC application is 17 November 2015.
