Infrared jitter imaging data reduction algorithms

Nicolas Devillard - European Southern Observatory

June 21, 1999

Abstract:

Jitter imaging (also known as microscanning) is probably one of the most efficient ways to perform astronomical observations in infrared. It requires though very efficient filtering and processing methods to produce the best possible output from raw data. This paper discusses the various issues attached to each data processing step and offers several algorithms, having in mind an automatic data processing in pipeline mode (i.e. without user interaction) as intended for the VLT.
