The DFS Department role

The Data Flow System department is one of the five main components of the Data Management and Operations Division (DMD). This departement has overall responsibility for the VLT Data Flow System : design, development, deployment and maintenance. More precisely, the DFS development and deployment goals are:

to develop, test and deploy all operations on critical DFS infrastructure components for science operations in Garching and on Paranal.
to develop, test, integrate and deploy all DFS instrument specific pipeline systems for science data product and calibration generation.
to provide technical support and ongoing maintenance for critical DFS components.
to work within the instrument Operations Teams to maximize the operations performance of a given science instrument.
