The 6th DFS Department meeting on October 5, 2000

MAIN NEWS

VIMOS commissioning#1 still planned for the 4th week of January 2001, and new DFS-4-3 release to be delivered to Paranal by November 15th: the current DFS NOV2000 commissioning schedule is unchanged. This release will contain a new OLAS and OHS running on HP-UX 11, with SYBASE 12. OHS means P2PP V2.2 and OT V2.2. For OLAS, the content has still to be defined. This DFS release has to be installed on UT3 (and probably on UT4) machines only. Patches of P2PP V2.1.1 and OT tcl/tk 1.4 should not be installed on UT1/UT2 (to be confirmed).
DFS/VIMOS dry-runs are postponed to 18-23 December 2000. The front-end and back-end interfaces to the DFS will be tested (includes in particular the interface BOB/OT using the new Mask Tracker Tool and the interface between the pipeline and the tool for preparing MOS observations).

Other

Jose and Bob are leaving ESO on October 30th.
The 2001 budget is being discussed by Peter and DG. Peter should present it as soon as decisions are taken, i.e. by end October.
