On the road to Chajnantor
The landscape of the high steppe, between 4000 and 4800 metres, is dominated by the bright yellow of the characteristic herbaceous vegetation, known as coirn. This picture has been taken from the road to the Chajnantor plateau, home of ALMA, the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array. ALMA is the largest astronomical project in existence and the largest radio telescope in the world.
