Astronomical Data on the Web

This is a list of astronomical data available on the World Wide Web which I put together for a lecture at the NEON archive school, held at ESO in August 2006, organized by:
  1. Thematic Archives, collections of mission data by wavelength;
  2. Integration Facilities, which provide basic data on astronomical sources, ingest and collect catalogues and tables, and are linked to journals;
  3. (Active) Missions and Ground-based Archives, where the parenthesis refers to the fact that non-active missions which are not archived anywhere else are also included;
  4. (Mostly) Large Area Surveys and Catalogues, where "large" means covering at least ~ 10% of the sky, although a selection of some smaller-area surveys is also included;
  5. Virtual Observatories.
This list is by no means supposed to be complete (especially so in terms of planetary and solar data) but should provide a good starting point for astronomers interested in multi-wavelength work.
