Experiment MUSCLE-G is included in the research program conducted onboard the ISS Russian Segment by spaceflight participant Richard Garriott within the framework of the GTA project. The experiment is to be carried out in the interests of the ESA medical program.

USED SCIENCE HARDWARE:

• MUSCLE questionnaire with a set of forms,
  where the space flight participant makes daily notes of whether he experienced low back pain on that day, describes its nature and marks pain levels on a scale. He also enters into the questionnaire his subjective sensations in the low back area he experiences throughout the day in the course of his daily activities.

PURPOSE:

Evaluation of atrophy of the muscle belt lying deep in the astronaut's body in response to microgravity conditions..

OBJECTIVE:

Astronaut's evaluation of pain developing in the low back and recording these sensations.

EXPERIMENT RESULTS:

Information entered into the questionnaire, which is returned to the ground.
