The Soyuz TMA-6 manned transport spacecraft developed and
manufactured at S.P. Korolev Rocket & Space Corporation
Energia was launched from the launch complex of Site #1 known
as the Gagarin start.
The launch of the Souyz-FG integrated launch vehicle with the manned spacecraft
was accomplished at 04:46:27 Moscow time.
The launch is intended to deliver the main expedition crew-11 (ISS-11) to the
International Space Station; to carry out a planned replacement of expedition
crew-10 (ISS-10) and the Soyuz TMA-5, which has been operating within the International
Space Station since October 16, 2004, performing functions of the crew rescue
vehicle; performance of activities under the visiting crew 8 program (VC-8),
including conduct of experiments and research within the Eneida project, maintenance
of the functionality of the station and its systems.

A
meeting of the State Board was held at which the Soyuz TMA-6
and ISS-11 prime and backup crews were approved, as well
as a decision was made to continue the Soyuz-FG/Soyuz TMA-6
rocket & space complex processing for filling and launch
within the scheduled time - on April 15, 2005, at 4:46 a.m.
Moscow time.

At
5:00 a.m. Moscow Time, the transporter with the Soyuz-FG
launch vehicle and the Soyuz TMA-6 transport spacecraft
left the Assembly and Testing Facility and arrived to the
launch pad for the final pre-launch processing. The Soyuz-FG
- Soyuz TMA-6 system was erected on the launcher. First
launch day activities began.

In commemoration of the Day of Cosmonautics S.P. Korolev RSC Energia managers
and specialists, who are currently engaged in launch preparation of the Soyuz
TMA-6 manned transport spacecraft, laid wreaths to memorial plaques of S.P.

was used to open docking interface of Instrument
Compartment, assemble service lines of Soyuz TMA-6 spacecraft and
ground network, as well as carry out the required
scope of checks.

Manned
transportation spacecraft Soyuz TMA-6 has been delivered
to the Baikonur launch site where it will undergo final
operations to prepare it for launch.
In the launch site processing facility, the work is drawing
to a close to prepare for launch a Russian logistics
spacecraft Progress M-52, which is to deliver to ISS
the propellant and cargoes needed for the space station
to continue its operation and to support the life and
work of its crew.
