Today
at 6 hours 11 minutes 11 seconds Moscow Time (3:11:11 a.m.
GMT), the Russian Soyuz TMA manned transport vehicle was
launched by the Souyz-FG rocket from Baikonur cosmodrome.
Commander
of Soyuz TMA-1 crew, Sergei V. Zaletin reported to the Co-chairman
of the State Board Nikolai F. Moiseev about the crew readiness
for the flight.

State Board meeting was held with the aim to approve the
following makeup of the Soyuz TMA-1 crews. The prime crew:
Sergei Zaletin, Commander; Frank De Winne, Flight Engineer
and Yuri Lonchakov, Flight Engineer.
The back-up crew: Yuri Lonchakov, Commander; Alexander Lazutkin,
Flight Engineer.

5:00 a.m. Moscow time launch vehicle with the Soyuz TMю-1
spacecraft was transferred from Assembly and Testing Facility
to launch site. The Soyuz-FG - Soyuz TMA system was erected
on the launcher.

In the LV processing facility, the orbital module was integrated
with the launch vehicle.
At 15 hours Moscow time, a meeting of the State Board and
the Technical Management was held where a decision was made
to roll out the launch vehicle carrying Soyuz TMA-1 to the
launch pad.

accordance with the International Space Station (ISS) mission
plan, logistics vehicle Progress M1-9 has been put into
a low Earth orbit.
The vehicle was launched at 20:58:24, Moscow daylight saving
time.
The objective of the launch is logistics support of the
Station and conducting tests of the rendezvous system Kurs
installed on the Russian module Zvezda and on the logistics
vehicle, while flying to the Station.

about extravehicular activities performed by the ISS Expedition
Crew 5 under EVA 8 Program
The Expedition Crew 5 (ISS-5) of the International Space
Station (ISS) performed their second egress into space.
This is the eighth EVA of the ISS crews from the Russian
Segment from the beginning of its operation.
The EVA objective is to perform operations under the extravehicular
activities (EVA 8) program including the previous EVA deferred
operations to release and install a new board with exposed
samples for Kromka experiment.

The forth Russian visiting crew (VC-4) to the International
Space Station is in progress.
During the acceptance tests of the hardware, which is planned
to be uploaded by Progress M1-9 cargo vehicle to the Station
in the frame of the Odissea project in September 2002 the
training sessions of Russian cosmonauts S.V.Zaletin and
Yu.V.Lonchakov and ESA astronaut of Belgian nationality
Frank de Winne being members of the prime and backup crews
in this mission took place.
They were familiarized with the hardware, its upload procedure
and peculiarities of its activation by RSC Energia and ESA
specialists.

3-day free flight in near-earth orbit, the Russian cargo
transport vehicle Progress M-46 has successfully docked
today to the International Space Station (ISS).
