SCIENTIFIC-EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

Space is a sphere of human vital interests. Space will be developed most efficiently if highly educated, committed specialists in space science and technology are involved in this process. Therefore, people should become familiar with space since their school days.
Rocket and Space Corporation after S.P. Korolev has been engaged for many years in the school-based activities aimed at vocational guidance of schoolchildren focusing their thoughts on aerospace engineering, acquainting them with the history of cosmonautics and the Corporation's achievements.

The lectures on the history of the national cosmonautics and development of the rocket and space technology are arranged for 6th - 8th grade pupils. In order to extend their knowledge, the schoolchildren visit the RSC Energia's Museum, Mission Control Center (MCC), the museums attached to TSNII of Machine Building and DB of Chemical Engineering. The pupils in the 9th-11th grades can attend the subject lectures - seminars on the Introduction to Rocket and Space Technology, take part in the tours of the RSC Energia's working places, MCC. About 50 lectures and 40 tours are arranged every year.
RSC Energia is one of the sponsors of the Korolev-based International Youth Space Camp, which has been organized every year since 1994. About 100 schoolchildren from Korolev, other cities and towns of Russia, as well as the USA, Great Britain, Greece, the CIS countries take part in the camp activities. The camp program foresees conducting the contests on physics, maths, information technology, literature and defence of creative works; visiting the leading space industry enterprises: RSC Energia after S.P. Korolev; Mission Control Center; the Russian State Research and Test Center for Cosmonauts Training after Y.A. Gagarin situated in the Star City; meeting RSC Energia's key personnel and cosmonauts. The contests winners are awarded valuable prizes bearing the RSC Energia's symbols.

The collection entitled "Poetical Notebook" with the poetry written by the city schoolchildren and devoted to space-related subjects is published annually with the direct participation of RSC Energia. The collection entitled "Poetical Notebook" with the poetry written by the city schoolchildren and devoted to space-related subjects is published annually. The Corporation Personnel Administration specialists are carrying out testing of the Korolev pupils, the results of which provide background for vocational guidance recommendations used when building dedicated classes.
An analysis of the sociological studies has shown that schoolchildren take a great interest in the actions taken. The schoolchildren going to the Scientific-Engineering College where they acquire more profound knowledge of physicomathematical disciplines take an intense interest in the events taken place as well. About 70% of the shool-leavers enter every year the institutions of higher education whose graduates form the key personnel of RSC Energia: Moscow State Technical University after. N.E. Bauman, Moscow Aviation Institute after S. Ordzhonikidze, Moscow State University after M.V. Lomonosov and others. A further step towards introducing schoolchildren to space science and technology is their direct involvement in space-related projects to be developed under the Microsatellite Program. The Russian-Australian Kolibry Project is the first of them.
