Technical Research on ISS Russian Segment
Experiment Kontrol
Objective:
Monitoring of Orbital Complex inherent outer atmosphere and external surfaces state, as well as diagnostics of serviceability of materials and coatings to be used.
Used science hardware:
Magnetron pressure sensor "ISS Indicator";
Flight time mass spectrometer "Managa-I";
Diagnostic plasma complex DPK-IPI.
Description of the experiment:
Measuring parameters of inherent outer atmosphere (residual density, mass composition, ion concentration, electron temperature) by scientific equipment kit to be accommodated on external surface of ISS RS module. Scientific equipment operates in an automatic mode under the experimental program. Background measurements are taken at least once a week within 3 hours. Measurement results are recorded by onboard recording device or electronic carrier to be sent to Earth.
Experiment results:
Development of database for specified operating conditions, aerodynamic designs, working, mathematic and physical models of space environment.
Development of the procedure to record and monitor anomalies of natural and technogenic origin.
