Experiment Microbiological monitoring

Purposes:

Obtaining new data on microorganisms' coenosis formation in the air environment and on the interior and equipment surfaces of the International Space Station.

Tasks:

To study with the help of the American means and methods of the ISS life environment microbiological condition control:

• quantitative level of bacteria in the air environment and on the AS ISS internal surfaces;
• quantitative level of fungi in the air environment and on the AS ISS internal surfaces;
• bacteria species composition in the air environment and on the AS ISS internal surfaces;
• fungus species composition in the air environment and on the AS ISS internal surfaces.

Used scientific hardware:

There is used NASA equipment - MAS air sample collector and kits for sampling from the surfaces.

Experiment results:

NASA equipment kits returning to the Earth with air and ISS surfaces microbiological samples and photo materials.
