Virtual Experiment

Purpose:

Receiving new data on mechanisms of sensory interactions and sensory adaptations, dynamics of the adaptive shifts stability in long-term space flights. Development of the reliability prediction procedure of visual tracking in the complicated dynamic and visual conditions causing disorientation and illusions of spatial position.

Objectives:

  • Revealing individual features and a character of correlation between perceptive, sensomotor and vegetative reactions in weightlessness.
  • Study of the effect of otolith function and semiciacular channel function changed in weightless conditions on characteristics of visual tracking.
  • Study of the effect of weightlessness on otolith function and semicircular channel function.
  • Definition of a character of otolith-oculomotor and cupulo-oculomotor subsystems interactich in the changed gravity force conditions.
  • Clarification of the otolith function role in establishment of spatial orientation and interaction of afferent systems.

Used Science Hardware:

  • ETD hardware intended for record of video oculogram (VOG) and head movements, consisting of:
    • ETD head apparatus Container;
    • ETD system block Container;
    • ETD accessories Kit.
  • Virtual-1 Kit consisting of:
    • Kit Virtual-1. Collar;
    • Kit Virtual-1. Mask (3 pcs.);
    • Kit Virtual-1. Data (3 pcs.).

Expected results:

Clarification of a character of two vestibular subsystems interaction in weightless conditions, study of their effect on the eyes stability as well as revealing the role of otolith function and semicircular channel functions in spatial orientation establishment. Besides, the given experiment will allow to study the effect of otolith function and semicircular channel function changed in weightless conditions, on characteristics of visual tracking.

Experiment Results:

All information received during measurement is recorded on USB Flash drive installed in ETD hardware System block.
