Sprut-2 Experiment

Objective:

Study the dynamics of the body composition and distribution of the liquid media of the human organism in a long term space flight for evaluation of the adaptation mechanisms and improvement of measures to prevent an adverse affect of weightlessness.

Tasks:

  • Acquire the data on dynamics of the body composition including the liquid media of the human organism and their distribution in a long term space flight.
  • Acquire the data for the goal-oriented correction of the aquatic status in different flight phases in order to improve the cosmonaut performance.

Science Hardware Used:

  • Kit Sprut-2. Device.

Flight Equipment Used:

  • Computer RSE-Med (Think Pad A31p);
  • Body mass meter.

Consumables:

  • Kit Sprut-2. Set of Consumables;
  • Kit Sprut-2. Data.

Experiment Results:

Physiological data on the experiment recorded on USB Flash drive which upon the Expedition completion shall be returned to the ground in kit Sprut-2 Data.

Expected Results:

The dynamics of the body composition and the aquatic status of the cosmonaut will be studied for the first time including the analysis of the liquid distribution along the body axis directly in space flight conditions.

The study results will allow to exercise independent medical control during long-term space expeditions and purposefully correct the water-salt exchange and the training mode in different flight phases in order to improve the crew performance.
