Geophysics Research on ISS Russian Segment
KAP 09 Experiment
KAP 09 experiment forms part of the research program performed by South Korean astronaut Yi So Yeon under KAP Project on the ISS RS. The research program is preparation and implemented on order by the South Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).
Objective:
- Study lighting discharges using MEMS space telescope with fast detectors technology.
- Test a micro electromechanically system (MEMS) for future generation of telescopes.
Task:
Observe lighting discharges in upper atmosphere using a high resolution telescope.
Science Hardware Used:
- Telescope KAMTEL (Experimental equipment used for observing lighting discharges
in upper atmosphere)
Used Flight Equipment:
Consumables:
Experiment Results:
Photo and video data recorded on a flash card and video tape to be returned to the ground.
