Educational & Humanitarian projects on ISS Russian Segment

KAP 14 Experiment

KAP 14 experiment forms part of the research program performed by South Korean astronaut Yi So Yeon under KAP Project on the ISS RS. The research program is preparation and implemented on order by the South Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).

Objective:

Familiarization of students and school children with differences between terrestrial gravity and space microgravity.

Task:

Demonstration and video imagery of several basic physical laws using dedicated demonstration equipment in a spaceflight onboard the ISS RS.

Science Hardware Used:

Education Kit, containing four sets of demonstration equipment representing sets of objects for demonstrating basic physical laws.

The Space Pen equipment set includes two fans and three pens: normal gel pen, special space pen and brush pen.

Flight Equipment Used:

  • Camcorder Sony HVR-Z1;
  • Digital camera Nikon D2X for photo and video imagery activities of the Korean astronaut.

Experiment Results:

Photo and video data recorded on a flash card and video tape to be returned to the ground.
