Expedition 39/40 (ISS-39/40)
MAIN TASKS OF THE INCREMENT
IN THE ISS-39 PHASE
(March 12 - May 14, 2014)
- Launch of two ISS-39/40 Russian crewmembers and one NASA crewmember by Soyuz TMA-12M vehicle;
- Docking of Soyuz TMA-12M vehicle to Mini Research Module Poisk (MRM2);
- Loading and undocking of SpX-3 vehicle from Node-2-Nadir (to be defined);
- Final unloading, loading and undocking of Progress M-22M cargo vehicle;
- Docking of Progress M-23M cargo vehicle;
- Partial unloading of Progress M-23M cargo vehicle;
- Loading and undocking of Orb-2 vehicle from Node-2-Nadir (to be defined);
- Operational support for loading and undocking of Soyuz TMA-11M vehicle from Mini Research Module Rassvet (MRM1) (return to the Earth of three ISS-37/38/39 crewmembers);
- Support of the Station functionality;
- Performance of the science and application research program and experiments;
- Onboard photographic and video recording of the ISS RS flight history.
The ISS-39 crew consists of 3 persons (March 12 - 28, 2014), 6 persons (March 28 - May 14, 2014).
MAIN TASKS OF THE INCREMENT
IN THE ISS-40 PHASE
(May 14 - September 11, 2014)
- Launch of one ISS-40/41 Russian crewmember, one NASA crewmember and one ESA crewmember by Soyuz TMA-13M vehicle;
- Docking of Soyuz-13M vehicle to Mini Research Module Rassvet (MRM1);
- Berthing of SpX-4 vehicle to Node2-Nadir and its unloading (to be defined);
- Loading and unberthing of Orb-2 vehicle from Node2-Nadir (to be defined);
- Loading and undocking of Progress M-21M vehicle from SM IC;
- Docking of ATV-5 to SM IC and its unloading (to be defined);
- Berthing of HTV-5 vehicle to Node2-Nadir and its unloading (to be defined);
- Loading and unberthing of SpX-4 vehicle from Node2-Nadir (to be defined);
- Final unloading, loading and undocking of Progress M-23M vehicle from Module Pirs (СО1);
- Docking of Progress M-24M vehicle to Module Pirs (СО1);
- Partial unloading of Progress M-24M vehicle;
- Loading and unberthing of HTV-5 vehicle from Node2-Nadir (to be defined);
- Operational support for loading and undocking of Soyuz TMA-12M vehicle from Mini Research Module Poisk (MRM2) (return to the Earth of three ISS-39/40 crewmembers);
- Support of the Station functionality;
- Performance of one EVA from the Russian Segment;
- Performance of the science and application research program and experiments;
- Onboard photographic and video recording of the ISS RS flight history and work under the symbolic activity program.
The ISS-40 crew consists of 3 persons (May 14-28, 2014), 6 persons (May 29 - September 11, 2014).
