In compliance with the International Space Station (ISS) flight program the operation for redocking of the Soyuz ТМА-17 manned spacecraft from nadir docking port of Functional Cargo Block (FGB) Zarya of the ISS Russian Segment to the docking port of the Instrument Compartment of Service Module (SM) Zvezda was performed.

The main purpose of the operation is to clear FGB docking port for docking of the Russian Research Module Rassvet which is planned to be delivered to the ISS in May this year by the U.S. Atlantis orbiter.

Operations for the spacecraft moving away from the Station, fly-around, berthing and further docking were performed in the manual mode by the spacecraft commander Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kotov. The whole crew of the spacecraft worked onboard the Soyuz ТМА-17 SC, namely U.S. astronaut Timothy Creamer and JAXA astronaut Soichi Noguchi.

Russian cosmonauts Alexander Skvortsov, Mikhail Kornienko and NASA astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson who worked onboard the Station controlled the spacecraft redocking and the ISS systems operation processes.

The operation preparation and performance was provided from Mission Control Center near Moscow (MCC-M) by specialists of S.P. Korolev RSC Energia and organizations taking part in the ISS program implementation.
