Korolev, Moscow region

According to the flight ballistic support program for the International Space Station (ISS) a planned one-burn station reboost was performed at 12:02 Moscow time (MT).

The orbital reboost is intended to alter the ISS attitude higher to provide ballistic conditions for the Russian and US vehicles to dock to the Station in early February 2010. The launch of Progress M-04M transport cargo vehicle is scheduled on February 3, 2010, the launch of the US Space Shuttle is planned on February 7, 2010.

All operations were performed as designed.

The ISS orbital reboost was performed automatically with two reboost thrusters (KD-1 and KD-2) of the Russian Service Module Zvezda of the Russian Segment using propellant of the SM integrated propulsion system. The thrusters were operated for 154 seconds having imparted an increment velocity of about 3 m/sec. The ISS average orbit altitude has been raised by 5 km.

 Reference:

  1. The station test orbital reboost was performed on January 22, 2010. Thrusters KD-1 and KD-2 were fired for 54 seconds. The Station velocity increment was about 1 m/s.
  2. The previous ISS planned reboost assisted by Atlantis Orbiter (STS-129) was performed on November 24, 2009. The Station velocity increment was about 1 m/s.
