Andreas Enevold MOGENSEN

ESA astronaut, Denmark

DATE AND PLACE OF BIRTH:
Born on November 2, 1976 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

EDUCATION:
In 1995 Andreas finished secondary school in Copenhagen, Denmark and received an International Baccalaureate.
In June 1999 he received a master's degree in aeronautical engineering from Imperial College in London.
In October 2007 Andreas received a doctorate in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas in Austin.

HOBBY: rugby, basketball, squash.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
In 2000-2001 Andreas worked as an engineer at Schlumberger, namely as a drilling services engineer (repair and maintenance) on offshore oil rigs in the Republic of Congo and the Republic of Angola.
In 2001-2003, Andreas worked at Vestas Wind Systems, Denmark, in the Research and Development Department.
In 2004-2007 he was a research assistant at the Space Research Center and a teaching assistant in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas. In 2007-2008, Andreas worked as attitude and orbit control systems engineer for HE Space Operations.
From 2008 to the enlistment in the ESA Astronaut Corps. Andreas was a researcher at the Surrey Space Center in the UK.

On May 20, 2009 he was selected as an ESA astronaut (the forth selection). Upon completion of the course of the astronaut basic training at an official ceremony conducted on November 22, 2010 at the European Astronaut Center in Cologne, Germany he received the ESA Astronaut Certificate.
On September 13, 2010 Andreas Mogensen reported to Yu.A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center for the training session. The Program of the training course which lasted till November 14, 2010 included learning the Russian language, familiarization with the ISS Russian Segment, Soyuz TMA vehicle and Sokol spacesuit as well as flying the Tu-134 to make visual - instrumental observations.
On July 26, 2012 he received a Certificate of successful completion of the training program for the Soyuz TMA Systems that allowed to continue training as flight engineer-2 of the Soyuz TMA vehicle to perform a space flight.
On August 28, 2013 ESA announced of his assignment to the prime crew of the Soyuz TMA-18M vehicle as a flight engineer for flying to the ISS under a 10-day program for the visiting crew.
In September 2013 Andreas took part in a 5-day mission (NEEMO-19) in the Aquarius undersea research laboratory at a depth of 20 m near the Florida coast together with Joseph Acaba, Kathleen Rubins and Soichi Noguchi. The trainings passed in the scope of preparation for extravehicular activity.
At a period of January 20-22, 2014 Andreas together with Sergei Volkov and CTC instructor S.V. Talankin participated in the autonomous integrated training in actions in case of emergency landing in the wooded-marshy locality in winter.
