Launch of Soyuz-1 spacecraft with cosmonaut V.M.Komarov aboard.

World first automatic docking and undocking of Soyuz-type unmanned spacecraft (Cosmos-186 - Cosmos-188).

September 14-18, 1968
World first flight of the Zond-5 automatic space station along the Earth-Moon-Earth trajectory which following Moon fly-around returned to Earth at the escape velocity.

January 16, 1969
Docking of Soyuz-4 and Soyuz-5 manned spacecraft. Cosmonauts transfer from one spacecraft to another through open space. Formation of the first experimental orbital station of 12924 kg mass.

Activities on development of the H1 modular multi-purpose launch vehicle and L3 Moon complex under the Moon program. February 21, 1969 - Start of light tests of the H1-L3 complex. The program was closed because of frustration of the complex development terms and four (of four) failed launches.

Flight of the Salyut first long-duration orbital station. One crew worked at the station.

June 6-30, 1971
The Soyuz-11 spacecraft that docked to the Salyut orbital station is in orbit. Beginning of the Salyut manned flight (22 days).

December 26, 1974 - February 3, 1977
Flight of the Salyut-4 long-duration orbital station. Two crews worked aboard it.

July 15, 1975
Start of the Soyuz-19 vehicle that docked with the US Apollo vehicle on July 17, 1975. The first experimental flight of the space complex consisting of vehicles of two countries under the Soyuz-Apollo program.

Start of activities on development of the Energia universal rocket & space transport system and Buran orbital vehicle.

September 29, 1977 - July 29, 1982
Flight of the Salyut-6 long-duration orbital station of the second generation with two docking assemblies. Five prime crews and eleven visiting crews worked on this station.

December 10, 1977
Launch of the Soyuz-26 spacecraft that docked with the Salyut-6 orbital station. Start of Salyut-6 manned operation.

January 20, 1978
The first launch of the Progress automatic transport cargo vehicle. The first delivery of cargo to the Salyut-6 station by the Progress vehicle.

March 2-10, 1978
The Soyuz-28 vehicle with the first international crew is in orbit. Docking with the Salyut-6 station.

December 16, 1979 - March 26, 1980
The first automatic flight of the Soyuz-T vehicle. Docking with the Salyut-6 orbital station, flight of the Salyut-6/Soyuz-T complex for 100 days.

Start of the Soyuz T-2 manned vehicle. Docking with the Salyut-6 orbital station.

Flight of the Salyut-7 long-duration orbital station. Four prime crews and five visiting crews worked aboard the station.
