of the CCD for X-ray use in Japan

Abstract:
We have
been developing charge-coupled device (CCD) for X-ray use. A mesh
experiment is introduced to study in detail how the primary charge
generated inside CCD is formed. We have precisely measured the
primary charge cloud shape. Employing the knowledge of it, we can
improve the point of interaction of X-ray photons inside the CCD.
The accuracy is less than 1 um by using 24um square pixel. We also
report the degradation of the CCD by low energy protons. A charge
injection method surely improves the performance of the CCD.
