Dr. Phil Plait 1515 Griffin Way Rohnert Park CA 94928 Dear Phil: I wanted to send a very special thank you for the wonderful presentation you gave on November 25, 2003, for our staff here at Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. Your topic on the Moon Hoax phenomenon was most appropriate: we get lots of questions from the general public about the veracity of the Moon Landings and requests to have Hubble look at the Moon! You gave us an opportunity to laugh and have fun with such a humorous, and essentially, ridiculous topic! By the way, in case you hadn't noticed, this was one of the very few occasions where there was literally standing room only in the Auditorium. We don't often get such a huge crowd for our Noon Talks!! These talks usually encompass timely presentations of often "dry" science and engineering topics, but yours, as scientifically accurate as it was, still was the most entertaining we've had in a very long time. Thanks for reminding us how foolish we humans can be, how easy it is to look at the facts with a clear and rational mind and still have a lot of simple fun while doing it!
