** Registration now closed. Deadline: 25 June 2005 **

Objectives
In the previous three e-VLBI Workshops held at Haystack (2002), JIVE (2003), and Tokyo (2004), significant progress was reported in all aspects of e-VLBI. Developments in e-VLBI continue around the world and this workshop presents a new opportunity to share the experience and explore possibilities for coordination and cooperation.

Topics to be discussed will include:
  • Reports on eVLBI tests and demonstrations
  • Plans for ongoing eVLBI development
  • Status of interaction with network providers and developers
  • International networking facilities - now and future
  • Standards and protocols for eVLBI data transfer.
  • Hardware and software interfaces to telescope back-ends and correlators
  • Software correlators
  • Related projects
The meeting will follow the style of the previous workshops with oral presentations of about 20 minutes and space for poster presentations.

The networking community is also invited to present their views and projections for e-VLBI, both as a future user and as a partner in the development of high performance international networks.

    Accommodation
Sydney has an abundance of accommodation at all price ranges. Reasonable accommodation could be obtained within the range A$100-150. There are hotels and motels near Marsfield but it is also feasible to stay in the centre of Sydney and commute to the meeting.

Booking accommodation should be done by the participants directly with the hotels. Most can be done via the web, email or phone/fax. The organising committee cannot book accommodation but would help if there are problems.

A short list of accommodation near Marsfield is given in the ATNF visitors guide.
A similar list, especially of inexpensive student accommodation, is given by the temporary accommodation guide from Macquarie University, located near ATNF.
N.B.: Prices given in these guides may not be very accurate. The latest prices should be confirmed directly with each hotel
A more comprehensive search for accommodation may be done via the NSW tourism guide, or via searching the web.
It is advisable to book early, especially for accommodation near Marsfield.

    Conference Dinner

A conference dinner is planned for the evening of Wednesday 13th July. The most likely venue will be a harbour-cruise on Sydney harbour. The cost for this depends on numbers and will be in the range A$60-110 (~40-60 Euro). The cost will be borne by the participants unless sponsorship is found. Details will be given once likely numbers are better known.
Payments (if necessary) will be collected when registering at the workshop.

The conference dinner has now been booked at a restaurant at Darling Harbour, in the heart of the city of Sydney. The dinner cost will be subsidised and participants will only pay A$50, payable at registration and preferably in cash.

    ATNF Observatories Tour

A tour of the ATNF observatories (ATCA, Mopra, Parkes) is possible but will take 3 days as the round trip is ~1500 km. The suggested dates are Friday 15 to Sunday 17 July.
Costs of transportation will depend strongly on numbers. A 20-seater bus and driver would cost about A$2.5k and hence individual costs could vary from A$100 to A$300. In addition, participants will need to budget for 2 nights accommodation (~A$100 per night) plus 3 days of meals.
Smaller self-drive trips could also be organised if there is demand.
Please indicate in your registration if you are interested in a tour. If you change your mind after registration, you can amend your choice by filling the observatories tour amendment form. More information and questions should be addressed to the LOC.

A small self-drive tour has been organised to visit all the ATNF observatories over 3 days (15-17 July). The cost of this should be only A$50 each.
