Scientific rationale
The workshop on т??Diffuse gas in and around the Milky Wayт?? is designed to bring together researchers working on atomic and ionised gas associated with the Milky Way and the Magellanic system. The workshop will highlight new data from the Parkes Galactic All-Sky Survey (GASS) of H i emission, the WHAM-South survey of HЮБ emission, and Areciboт??s GALFA survey of Galactic H i. This will also be an excellent opportunity to discuss what we hope to learn with future ASKAP surveys.
The workshop will focus on the following topics:
- Disc-halo interaction
- High-velocity clouds
- Magellanic system
- Galactic corona
- Milky Way dynamics
We hope to foster animated discussion on these topics and the future of these fields.
