CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science Student Program: national facility support
It is a requirement that PhD students who are part of the CASS student project support the National Facility. Traditionally this is carried out by acting as a Duty Astronomer at the Compact Array. CASS fully funds the costs associated with this duty including air travel within Australia. Students not based in Australia are encouraged, but not required, to do this duty when visiting. It is also possible for students to carry out their support role at Parkes, on the MRO site or in the Science Operations Centre at Marsfield. Finally support for the national facility may also include, for instance, developing software, taking part in outreach activities or improving documentation. Please contact the student coordinator to discuss your support role.
