Discovery of very high energy γ-rays from Centaurus A

Abstract: Recently the HESS collaboration announced the discovery of very high energy γ-rays from the nearby radiogalaxy Centaurus A. I will describe the results obtained with the HESS array of imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes located in Namibia, and discuss different possible scenarios and sites of γ-ray production.
