Background I have an extensive teaching background in Physics, Junior Science and Outdoor Education. My undergraduate study in Physics was at the Royal Military College, Duntroon before completing a Graduate Diploma of Education at Sydney Institute of Education. I taught at Blue Mountains Grammar School from 1985-2001 and at Tara Anglican School for Girls from 2001-2003. During my teaching career I was heavily involved in curriculum design, being on the team that wrote the syllabus and course material for the Cosmology Distinction Course for the NSW Board of Studies as well as being involved in the writing of the new HSC Physics syllabus in NSW. I have been involved in postgraduate research in astronomy education at UWS Nepean although this is currently on hold. My specific area of interest is in student-based research projects in astronomy, something that was an active field whilst I was at Blue Mountains Grammar School. You can read my publication list and access some of my papers online. My passion and involvement in astronomy education has led me to this position as Education Officer for the Australia Telescope National Facility (now CASS) where I have the opportunity to develop some exciting new resources and programs, many of which can be accessed on our dedicated Outreach and Education site. |
