Background
Since September 2008, I am working as a Postdoctoral Bolton Fellow at the Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF), a division of Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). I started my astronomy career as an undergraduate student at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands). In 2000/2001 I spend a year at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore (USA) to complete my masters thesis project on studying molecular gas in the photodissociation regions of the nearby galaxy M81. My subsequent PhD project at the University of Groningen (in collaboration with the University of Sheffield, UK) involved studying the origin and evolution of nearby radio galaxies, mainly through observations of neutral hydrogen gas and spectral analysis of stellar populations. After my graduation in 2006, I continued this work under a Rubicon Fellowship at Columbia University in New York (USA). The following link provides a full version of my curriculum vitae (CV).
Research Interests:
Radio galaxies, AGN and host galaxy evolution. Currently active research topics: CO in high-redshift radio galaxies; HI and optical imaging of nearby radio galaxies; commissioning studies with the new 2GHz Compact Array Broadband Backend (continuum spectral-line and flux characterisation).
