Summer Studentships 2010
The International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) in Perth is pleased to announce that applications are now open for its summer student scholarships. ICRAR is a rapidly growing research institute specialising in astrophysics, data intensive science and engineering. The centre assists in the development of new telescope technologies at the Western Australian candidate Square Kilometre Array site. It is a joint venture between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia in Perth.

For 2010 ICRAR is offering eight student fellowships to outstanding applicants from Australia and New Zealand, four of which will be co-funded with iVEC for projects with computational elements. Applications are sought from students who have completed at least two full years of their undergraduate studies in physics, astronomy or a relevant engineering discipline. Successful applicants will join ICRAR for a 10 week period over December 2010 to February 2011. Selected undergraduate students (3rd and 4th year and honours students) will receive up to $6,000 tax free over the 10 week internship. Applicants who are not from Western Australia will receive one return airfare to Perth from their home city. Accommodation can be organised by ICRAR and will be subsidised by up to 50%. The deadline for applications is October 1st, 2010. The selection committee will meet in the following week and candidates will be informed of the outcome by mid October.
