New PhD scholarship available at Curtin. Please distribute to
potentially interested students.

PhD scholarship now available at the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy (CIRA)

A PhD scholarship is available at the Curtin Institute of Radio
Astronomy (CIRA), a research institute of the Curtin University of
Technology (Perth, Australia), under the supervision of Prof. Steven
Tingay. The scholarship has a value of $A25,000 per year for 3 years,
with a possible 6 month extension, and is open equally to Australian
and international applicants who have completed an honours degree (or
equivalent) in astrophysics or a related field of science and/or
engineering. For the successful applicant, a tuition fee waiver will
be available, as will relocation assistance. A personal research
budget of $2,500 per year is available to the successful applicant.

Applications are sought from high quality candidates who wish to
pursue a PhD in radio astronomy using Australian and international
radio astronomy facilities. Further information regarding particular
projects or areas of research strength on offer can be obtained via
email from Prof. Tingay (s.tingay_at_curtin.<!--nospam-->edu.au).

Applicants should submit a brief letter of application (including a
statement of research interest, if known), a CV, and copies
(uncertified is fine) of academic transcripts to Prof. Tingay via
email before May 15, 2009. A selection based on the applications will
take place before May 31, 2009.

CIRA collaborates with a wide range of partners both nationally and
internationally and has a current staff and student complement of 25
people. Curtin University of Technology is a joint venture partner
with the University of Western Australia in a state-funded radio
astronomy Centre of Excellence and a state-funded International Centre
for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR).
