The visualization challenges for astronomers include creating images for public outreach, especially relevant during the International Year of Astronomy, and presenting intrinsically multidimensional data within research papers that are exclusively 2-dimensional.
The following 2 workshops are designed to inform astronomers about approaches to these challenges and provide hands-on experience with colour image creation and 3D plot presentation.
For requirements for the hands-on portions of the visualization sessions, the abstracts for each lecture, and other details, please see http://www.physics.umanitoba.ca/~english/vizATNF/
If you have one, please bring a laptop for the hands-on portion. We will work in groups of 2 or 3 so laptops can be shared.
