<em>``The Full-Sky Astrometric Mapping Explorer Space Mission''</em>

<b>Abstract.</b>
The Full-Sky Astrometric Mapping Explorer (FAME) will measure the
positions, proper motions, parallaxes, and photometry for 40 million
stars between 5 and 15 magnitude, with accuracies of 50 microarcseconds
at 9th magnitude and degraded accuracy for fainter stars as faint as 15
magnitude. The mission is planned for a five-year duration. <BR>
The FAME mission has progressed in its development. Due to budget,
weight, and power limitations, the FAME architecture has been rescoped
but retains the basic science objectives of the mission. The new design
and characteristics, the status of developments and tests, and the
scientific baseline and minimum mission requirements are presented.
