ASKAP Project Manager Positions - Closes 9th December

Rare opportunities exist in the ASKAP project for experienced engineering Project Managers with exceptional communication and collaborative skills, a track record in delivery of complex projects, proven technical and people management skills and a strong team focus.

As a member of the expanding team at the ATNF, you will manage a subset of ASKAP projects within a very challenging timescale, with complex technical and political requirements and extensive internal and external relationships both national and international.

In this matrix organisation, the small team of project managers working on ASKAP report either to the Group Leader Project Specialists or Engineering with specific work activity directed through the ASKAP Project Management Team. Progression into a role with expanded project management scope at a higher salary range is possible for suitably qualified and experienced individuals.

Successful appointees will have extensive experience in all aspects of project management and successful project delivery in a research environment, preferably with specific experience in managing astronomy related projects. Essential attributes include the ability to make effective contributions to the ASKAP overarching project objectives, working collaboratively within a team environment whilst functioning independently in the delivery of specific sub-project outcomes.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required with proven ability to effectively interact with and influence staff and collaborators from a diverse range of backgrounds, preferably including research scientists and engineers. A science or engineering background and understanding of astronomy principles will therefore be a distinct advantage.

Applications close 9th December 2007 for these 5year fixed-term appointments. Job Reference 2007/1294.
