Job Opportunity - Electronics/Microwave Engineer

The Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF) seeks a highly motivated individual to work in the field of radio frequency (RF) and microwave systems in addition to component development to be used in radio astronomy and space science instrumentation.

The antennas and receiving systems cover the 0.2 to 120 GHz frequency range and encompass the fields of cryogenically cooled millimeter and microwave receivers, specialised RF & analogue electronics and high-volume integrated receivers.

Applicants must hold or be about to graduate in a recognised degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a direct equivalent. Starting salary will be based on experience.

Relocation expenses and assistance with accommodation may be provided.

Position Description:

Take part in the design, development, installation and testing of new electronic systems.

Be involved in the computer aided simulation and design of RF and electronics subsystems employing discrete and integrated components.

Provide technical operational and maintenance support in a range of electronic engineering disciplines.

Organise procurement of electronic equipment, electronic components and other laboratory items.

Write and update electronic systems documentation and test procedures.

Fault find and repair RF and electronic modules to the component level.

Liaise with the Narrabri and Parkes scientific and engineering staff.

Undertake training courses where required to expand and enhance skills.

Travel to observatories and other sites to assist with installation and maintenance of electronic systems.
