Boston Area Astronomical ResourcesPopular astronomy lectures are conducted by the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics every third Thursday of the month at Phillips Auditorium of Harvard Observatory in Cambridge starting at 8 pm. Admission is free. Telescopic observing is available after the lecture. For more information call 617-495-7461. PUBLIC Telescopic observing is conducted by the Astronomy Department of Boston University every clear Wednesday night. Admission is free. Since the time varies throughout the year, call 617-353-2630 on Wednesdays after 5:30 p.m. for up-to-date information. Sky shows are presented daily at the Hayden Planetarium of the Boston Museum of Science. PLANETARIUM SHOWS and other activities are presented daily at the EcoTarium (formerly the New England Science Center), Worcester, MA. The MILLSTONE HILL OBSERVATORY is located in Westford, MA. The ATMoB clubhouse and observing site is also located here. PUBLIC Telescopic observing is conducted at the Wheaton College Observatory every clear Friday (call for times) when college is in session. Located at the intersection of routes 123 and 140 in Norton, the observatory is on the roof of the Science Center. Salem State College hosts regular public observing sessions every clear Monday night during the school year. The College has a 12.5 " Newtonian/cassegrain telescope. The observatory is located on the roof of Meier Hall, Route 114 in Salem. Observing begins at dusk. For more information see the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club page. Merrimack College in North Andover, MA hold public observing sessions and lectures every third Thursday of the month during the school year. The College has a 20" Ritchey Chretien telescope. The observatory is located on the roof of the Science, Engineering and Technology Building on Route 114 in North Andover.
