Your own backyard, clubhouse, school - wherever!

NEW THIS YEAR, GLOBE at Night will be collecting your observations during all 12 months of 2014!  Give it a try.  Globe at Night is a fun, international citizen-science event that encourages everyone— students, educators, dark sky advocates and the general public— to measure the darkness of their local skies and contribute their observations online to a world map. The goal is to raise public awareness of the impact of artificial lighting on local environments by getting people involved. Data collection and online reporting is simple and user-friendly.

Your measurements on a local level make a global difference! Go to the Globe At Night website at www.globeatnight.org  Here you will find the 5 easy star-hunting steps for observing and reporting your observations.  You will also find activity packets for teachers and families, and links to the summary of overall numbers and general analysis of the 2013 data.  The 2014 observing campaigns are scheduled for roughly the last 10 days of January through December.  Check the Globe at Night website for exact schedule.

This is a great activity for families, community groups, friends, and amateur astronomers at all levels.  Hope you will give it a try.
