P103/Comet Hartley 2 and the Double Cluster P103/Comet Hartley 2 and the Double Cluster in Perseus. The comet brightened to approximately 6th magnitude as it passed the open clusters NGC 869 and NGC 884. The clusters are separated by a few hundred light years (ly) and are 7,000 ly away. Takahashi Epsilon-180, Canon 20D DSLR, 2 - 5 minute sub frames. Chester, Vermont. 8 October 2010. |
