I have a placed in the third energy column a recommended value for the energy value of this level, based on the theoretical and observed splittings of the 4F levels. It is this energy value which is used to compute the wavelengths of transitions involving level 16 given in the .wgfa file.
%Produced for the CHIANTI database by Peter Young, 15-Feb-99 contact: pyoung@cfa.harvard.edu %Upsilons: Storey P.J., Mason H.E., Young P.R., 2000, A&ASS 141, 285 Storey PJ, Mason HE, Saraph HE, A&A 309, 677, 1996 (for the 1-2 transition) %Comment: Although data for the 1-2 transition was calculated by Storey, Mason & Young (1999), that presented in Storey, Mason & Saraph (1996) is considered more accurate. Only transitions involving levels 1, 2 and 21 are tabulated here. These are the only levels with significant population. Inclusion of all of the other FeXIV transitions has negligible effects on the level balance of the ion. For the gf values, I have used those calculated in the "basis 1" model of the ion, which is the one used for the collisional calculation. Note that the gf values in the .wgfa file are from the more accurate "basis 3" model.
%produced for the CHIANTI database by Peter Young, 15-Feb-99 contact: pyoung@cfa.harvard.edu %A-values: Storey P.J., Mason H.E., Young P.R., 2000, A&ASS 141, 285 %Comment: This set of radiative data were calculated using the FeXIV model described on p.679 of Storey, Mason & Saraph (1996, A&A 309, 677) and labelled by them as the "extended basis". In Storey, Mason & Young, this basis is referred to as "basis 3". The wavelengths for transitions involving level 16 were derived using the "best guess" energy for level 16 given in the 3rd energy column of the .elvlc file.
