Abstract:
In the next few years, several observing facilities will
allow to study the dust content of spiral galaxies with unprecedented
detail. At last,
it will be possible to assess consistently the influence of dust, from
extinction of starlight in the optical to thermal emission in the
infrared. The workshop will
explore new perspectives in radiative transfer studies and will lay the
foundations
of a pan-European collaboration between observers, modellers and
theoreticians.
