UPDATE - June 1, 2007

 

 

 

 

       UVCS data have been acquired at the beginning of the long fall 2006/2007 quadrature during the week 19 to 25 December, 2006. At that time Ulysses was at a southern latitude of ~ 70 degrees (click here to download a S. Suess document with all details about the 2007-2008 Ulysses quadratures). The observations aimed at deriving the fast wind profile out to a few solar radii: results from this analysis may possibly be complemented by results derived from applying tomographic techniques to radio scintillation data acquired by the Nagoya facilities. The latter refer to wind speed at altitudes from 0.2 to 1 AU.

       A successfull MERLIN proposal for "Co-ordinated studies of the solar minimum solar wind" has been advanced by Andy Breen (PI, with the participation of G. Dorrian, R. Fallows, G. Poletto, M. Bisi, P. Thomasson, R. Beswick): this means that scintillation measurements will be made on 12, 14, 15 and 17 May, 2007. UVCS time has been booked to get simultaneous measurements in UV lines and build an UV/IPS wind profile. At that time Ulysses will be at a  southern latitude of about 53 degrees. In particular scintillation measurements will be made as dexcribed in the following table.

 

 

 

 

  A HINODE proposal for coordinated SOHO/HINODE observations at the end of the spring quadrature has been recently advanced (G. Del Zanna, PI; with the participation of V. Andretta, H. Mason, G. Poletto, Y-K. Ko). Primary target of the proposal is to measure electron temperature, density, chemical  abundances  in the low corona.  Values  in  interplanetary  space will be eventually provided by Ulysses.
