The SKA
(Square Kilometre Array) will be a revolutionary radio
telescope with about one square kilometre of collecting area. The SKA is
a global project in which astronomers and engineers from more than 70
institutes in 20 countries, together with industry partners, are
participating in the scientific and technical design of the
telescope.
The italian community is involved in SKA delopment in several fields, and
at Arcetri we have a large activity in the correlator and data processing
area.
In particular we work on beamforming, and in pulsar search and in Loal
monitoring and control area.
