The Venue

The Workshop will take place at the Villa Il Gioiello, on the Arcetri hill, in Via del Pian dei Giullari 42, Firenze, Italy. Galileo Galilei lived in the Villa from 1631 till his death in 1642. When he was sentenced to house arrest by the Holy Office, he choosed the Villa as his residence, since it was very close to the convent of S. Matteo, where his daughter Maria Celeste was a nun.

The Villa is very close to the Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory, which was founded 150 years ago.

Given the size of the conference room in the Villa, the participation to the Workshop will be limited to about 40 persons.
