TRANSPORTING THE ROOF UP THE MOUNTAIN: OCTOBER 9, 1999

This is one file of two. The balance of the photos are located in the second file.

Basin Pipe and Metal (and organized by Gentry Construction--lead contractor--transported the new roof extension intact up to Sunspot from Alamogordo. The convoy waited until 6:45am to depart for enough lite. The pictures get brighter as we get closer to sunrise and then are easier to see as it gets closer to 8am.

The plan was to leave at 6:30am. A little too dark, so they waited.

This is the view down the first passing lane (below the tunnel) just as the sky is turning pink. The enclosure is the last set of headlights.

After the tunnel, in High Rolls, the blocked traffic makes a breakout from the convoy. Downhlll traffic is stopped while the enclosure passes through the tunnel.

After blocking traffic in Cloudcroft, the convoy succesfully makes it way onto the Sunspot Hwy. This is the view from Upper Karr Canyon.
