Todays crew was a motlely bunch. Shu-i/Connie (kinda); Mark,Dave, Ron, with Carroll and Lonnie from CVE.
The floor hatch is removed and lowered to outside the enclosure. CVE has set up shop and begins amputating a leg from the floor hatch to accommodate the Echelle.
Note the sparks flying!!
The dismembered part.
During this refitting, the Echelle, primary and secondary mirrors are protected.
Note the shrinkwrap around the front end.
The day was nice enough to use outside ventilation, too.
Apparently, when lifting the hatch down for refitting, the 1-ton hoist developed a chain problem, so Dave and Ron jump to to repair.
