Prior to the start of installation, hatch covers are removed, pieces are unpacked, and the telescope mount is readied.

The main truss (there are two) which help support the instrument.

These are the camera tank supports (with cradle support).

Larry finds the main truss supports are obstructed by the floor hatch angle. Two 10-inch cutouts are made to accommodate the main trusses and provide clearance for the telescope.

Larry, Jon and Mark work on tightening the bolts to the main truss and x-frame.

Shu-i and Larry unpack the x/y motion gimbles while referring to the installation diagram.

The completed installation of the echelle mount. The weights and standard on on the telescope are for balance. This will be removed when the instrument is installed.

Pictured is the x/y motion gimbels installed on the main trusses.

The next installment of pictures will be the arrival of the insturment on 11/2, with installation beginning shortly thereafter.
