The afternoon ceremony of short speeches and well wishes started under a clearing and spectacular New Mexico sky.

Rene Walterbos, as Master of Ceremony, recognized many of the key contributors to the success of the 3.5m telescope, and the many guests and friends that came to share the day.

Don York, University of Chicago, expressed appreciation and congratulations.

Ed Turner, University of Princeton, spoke briefly on the progress and science.

Bruce Balick, University of Washington, spoke of the past and future of the 3.5m.

And everyone was heaping great praise on Ed T. for his tenure as Director of the 3.5m project.
