Radiative transfer codes

1. Our notes briefly list the optical characteristics that are necessary for radiative transfer (RT) calculations. For further reading we give a list of works developing the RT codes for astronomical applications. Here is the PostScript original of the notes being a part of unpublished review of N.Voshchinnikov prepared in 2002 for Astrophys. & Space Phys. Rev. (the whole review entitled "Optics of Cosmic Dust" is available on request, please contact the author using the address nvv@astro.spbu.ru). A part of these notes (the section on the radiative transfer approaches) was addded by V.Il'in & S.Grachev.
