Scholarships for Teachers in Grades K-12

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, a limited number of scholarships are available to assist teachers (grades K - 12) in attending the programs for teachers at the 2011 ASP Meeting. Please note that these scholarships are available only to U.S. teachers who have or have been offered full-time employment as teachers in the 2011-2012 school year.

Before you apply, we encourage you to read the pages that describe our sessions for teachers:

• In the Footsteps of Galileo -- Grades K - 12 (Sat & Sun, July 30 - 31)
  Fee = $95 for two days, including telescope kit and DVD
• Facets of Space and Earth Science Teaching -- Grades 6 - 12 (Mon - Wed, Aug. 1 - 3)
  Fee = $40 for each three-hour short course (fee rises after June 15)

How the Scholarships Work:

• You are welcome to register for the weekend workshop and any or all of the six three-hour short courses Mon, Tues, and Wed.
• Each session has its own registration fee (as shown above).
• If you are approved for a scholarship, we will reimburse you for:
• a. half the cost of the total of registration fees for sessions you attend (up to $167.50),
  plus
• b. any travel expenses up to $100 (with receipts)
• Mileage is paid at the rate of 50 cents per mile (as part of the travel expenses)
• All scholarship money will be paid to you after the meeting, once we have verified your attendance and received receipts from you.
