I’d like to be a volunteer for this meeting. Whom do I contact?
Participate as a volunteer and receive complimentary registration for hours worked. This is an excellent opportunity for undergrads, grads, postdocs, and local amateur astronomers at our meetings: to supervise sessions, help at registration, usher at events, and various other jobs. Don't miss the chance to meet and mingle with your peers, and get up to date on the newest science. To sign up to be a volunteer, please e-mail your name, email address, telephone numbers, and days of availability to: Cinndy Hart: 2011meeting {at} astrosociety.org

I have missed the deadline for submitting an abstract for the meeting. Can I still contribute to the meeting in some meaningful way?
The conference will have many sessions where audience participation will be encouraged. It will feature hands-on workshops where you will be able to learn new techniques and become familiar with new materials that should be of benefit in your own education and outreach work.

When should I be arriving in Baltimore and when should I plan to leave?
Saturday morning the Galileo Teacher Training Program (GTTP) Workshop registration will begin at 8:00 am and end at approximately 10:00 am on Saturday morning.
Sunday evening, July 31, conference registration will open and the Welcome Reception will start approximately 6:00 pm.
The meeting itself will end with a wrap-up discussion and happy hour late Wednesday afternoon. So that you do not miss afternoon sessions to get to the airport on time you may want to stay over Wednesday evening and depart on Thursday morning.

What Other Information Do I Need Before Leaving for Baltimore?
1. If you need to ship personal materials in advance (such as handouts), the best place to send them is to your hotel room.
2. In general, if you are in reasonable health, you will not need a car to attend the meeting. The Shuttle from the Baltimore airport will bring you to your hotel and pick you up there. The hotel is connected to the Tremont Grnade meeting rooms by a skyway on the 5th floor.
3. Everyone who participates in the meeting must register and must wear the badge given out at registration. Local students are given a chance to volunteer at the meeting to help defray their registration costs.
4. If colleagues are interested in attending at the last minute, we will accept registration at the door for all sessions except the weekend workshop.

If I am a teacher, can I attend both the weekend workshop and some of the short courses during the week?
Yes, we anticipate many teachers will try to attend both kinds of sessions. We should note, however, that room in the workshop and short courses is very limited, so we urge you to register as soon as possible to secure a place.
